SEFAC Giro Del Capo tour hits the track

Sunday saw the conclusion of the 2011 SEFAC Giro Del Capo with a track day at Killarney. As I enter the pit area I’m blown away by the number of Ferrari’s, there where more Ferrari’s there than the total number of cars at the average Killarney track day… it was insane to see. The colour, the craftsmanship… and the noise, everything a petrolhead could ask for. Sadly, with a limited amount of time, I couldn’t capture as much of the day as I’d liked, but I had to share the sea of red that was Killarney on Sunday… enjoy

11-10-08 Street2Strip and MSA drag practice

Today saw Killarney hosting a combined Street2Strip and MSA drag practice event to christen then newly laid tar at Killarney. With the MSA guys allowed to run faster than the 13 second Street2Strip limit we did see at least two cars being sent home by the time I left, a Subaru that ran a 12.9 and a turbo charged BMW running a 12.8. A 3rd, a new BMW M5, sandbagged after running a 13.1 to prevent being given his marching orders. With a scheduled 10 hours of racing and great weather, if a little hot, plenty of racing and fun was had by all… on to the coverage…

11-10-01 Saldanha 800m

Saturday saw West Coast Racing host another round of the Saldanha 800m top end runs with Zain Ryland returning to defend his crown. With a number of Skyline GTR’s and a track speck Porsche in attendance it looked like there where cars up for the challenge. The ‘surprising’ early contender to the thrown was the Executive Towing BMW that managed to match Zain’s previous record of 256km/h. With Zain having put up a speed in the 240km/h region earlier in the day it look like we would possibly have a new champion, that was until Zain lined up against the green monster – Suspect-WP. Spurred on by the beast lining up next to him Zain pushed his twin turbo Sierra XR8 to a speed of 265.4km/h. Congratulations to Zain as well as the organisers for an awesome event, till next time…
